Family - Hiking - Tenting - Bonfires - S'mores - Fishing - Friends - Games
We all remember our childhood, no matter what decade we grew up in. I'm not going to give away my age, but I will admit to not even owning my own cell phone until I was in high school....and back then it was soooo basic and boring. It was more fun to actually interact with friends in person than just through messages, pictures and social media. HECK - social media wasn't even that big of a deal back then!!! We just had dial-up AOL instant messenger and the joyous Myspace! ;-)
One of my greatest memories as a kid were all the fun times going camping! We went ALL the time, it was awesome!!! My dad grew up camping, so of course he had to get my mom in on the fun and then they brought my sister & I into the mix not long after we were born! My husband's family also enjoyed camping growing up. They had a few other families, with kids, that they went with. They became family and it was summer traditions....Dun'Romin.....FUN!
We got to bring friends with us, run around the campground playing flashlight tag, made new friends at the campground, caused a few shenanigans - ya know, the normal kid stuff!!!
So, what did my husband and I do when we both discovered our amazing love for camping? We go ALL the time, just the two of us! Sometimes with family or friends too. But nevertheless....we just go and enjoy it, whenever and wherever we can! Did pregnancy hold us back?! NOPE A baby?! NOPE We kept our love for the outdoors alive as life changed! I'm kinda bummed to admit that we didn't get out once last year, it was just too busy of a year unfortunately. But we already have a few weekends planned for this summer so we can rekindle that love. Life is too short to break traditions! And I don't know about you, but whenever I'm able to get away, relax, unplug from the world and just enjoy nature - I'm a much happier person! haha There's something just so soothing about fresh air, the sounds of the streams and a crackling campfire!
A tradition that will never change! And when our son grows up, he'll bring friends of his own and create his own memories.
- Do what you love and don't let anything change that! -
